New operation in Halliwell sees 15 arrests and hundreds of thousands of illicit cigarettes seized

A new operation clamping down on everything from anti-social behaviour to illicit business practices is targeting criminals in Halliwell, with a range of positive results already registered.

In the time since the work began in March, 15 arrests have been secured for a variety of offences, 22 premises have been visited, and nearly 300,000 illicit cigarettes seized.

Across several dedicated days of action, the local Neighbourhood Policing Team have worked closely with specialist teams and partners agencies to ensure comprehensive coverage of the Halliwell area, to tackle the scourge of criminality.

The operation, named Chenille, was launched as a result of issues surrounding drug use, anti-social behaviour, and crime which has been affecting local residents.
